OIL EXPROLATION WILL NOT AFFECT WILD LIFE IN UGANDA
TheAlbertine game reserve will be maintained during the oil exploration in Western Uganda, According to the Commissioner in the Ministry of Energy. Mr.H.Malinga was speaking at a monthly public debate conviened by Nature Uganda at the Uganda Museum. According to Uganda Wildlife Authority, monitoring teams had been set up to ensure that Oil Explorations co-exist with Wild animals in the protected areas . Date:February 19th 2008 Kisoro Tourist Agents Accuse UWA of Bias Anew lodge under going construction has created shivers among tourist handlers serving Mugahinga Gorilla National Park.Following a decision by Uganda Wildlife Authority to to award 75% of the exclussive rights of the gorilla permits to the Lodge.This implies six of eight Gorilla permits to one lodge run by Wild Places leaving two to be shared by other 15 safari companies and Lodges. When UWA officials were contacted , the CEO ,Moses Mapesa said,"UWA gave six permitsto residents of Nkuringo as a means for their survival through selling the permits to tourists,when residents voluntarily gave away land for nature conservation ,in return UWA agreed to give 6 permits to residents.
