MURCHISON FALLS N. PARK
Murchison falls is situated in the northern part of Uganda. It is the largest game park, 3,893sq.km covered by mostly untamed African savannah bisected by the River Nile where the mighty Nile explodes violently through a cleft in the rift valley escarpment hence the name Murchison falls. At the top of the falls one is able to see the magnificent falls.
There are different mammal’s species such as elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, Uganda kobs.lions, oribis, hippos and crocodiles along the river Nile are in abundance while on the launch trip. A variety of bird species like herons, fish eagle, bee-eaters.commorants, ducks and the rare shoe bill stork.
The tourist activities like game drives, sport fishing provides an exciting challenge. A trail to the top of the falls gives an opportunity to get close to the narrow gorge.
Nature and forest walks in Budongo and Rabongo forest reserves to trek chimpanzees, forest birds like white-thighed hornbill, chocolate-backed kingfisher are observed.
Primate species like baboons, red-tailed monkeys, and black and white colobus monkeys are very interesting to see. |

QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK TOUR
This park was designated as a biosphere reserve. It is characterized by open savannah to rainforest, dense papyrus swamps and brooding crater lakes. The park comprises of Lake Edward and George which connect through the kazinga channel boasting Queen Elizabeth national park as one of the highest biodiversity ratings with a number of mammal and bird species of any park in Uganda.
The mammal species include both large and smaller mammals, bats and rodents for example lions, buffaloes, spotted hyenas, leopard, topi, gaint forest hog and warthog.
Chimpanzees and primate species including olive baboons, red tailed monkey, colobus and vervet monkey. About 606 bird species recorded like swamp fly-catcher, African fish eagle, African spoonbill, brown parrot, black bishop and broad-tailed warbler.
It’s commonly known for the famed tree climbing lions in the Ishasha sector, chimpanzee trekking and primates in kyambure gorge. Bird watching and other animals while on the launch trip. LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK TOUR INFORMATION
It is the closest national park from Kampala 371sq.km located in mbarara district and the smallest of Uganda’s savanna national parks. It contains of tan extensive wetland, attractive scenery and only national park with an entire lake hence famous for its richness in biodiversity.
The vegetation is dominated by open and wooded savanna’s, lakes and swamps which are home to different plants and animal spacies.The mammal species including impalas topi, zebras.gigantic eland, antelopes are herbivores while jackals and hyenas are predators.Tha park has a variety of bird species from woodland, grassland and swampy birds to open water birds such as white pelican, darter, brown chested wattied plover and African fin foot.
Game viewing through the different tourist tracks for game drives gives a wonderful experience to see mammal species like warthogs, zebras, waterbucks, bush bucks and bush duikers. Canoeing and boat rides on the lake attract hippos, crocodiles and water birds.

SEMULIKI NATIONAL PARK TOUR
This park is situated in Bundibugyo district extreme western part of Uganda. It is one of Uganda’s newest national parks gazetted in October 1993.It lies along the Uganda-democratic republic of Congo border within the western arm of the east African rift valley.
Semuliki is a good destination for birders with unique bird species found no where else in Uganda. With 336 tree species recorded of which 24 restricted in the park. Butterflies and birds are many like hornbills, lyre tailed honey guide. Some species of mammals include forest buffaloes, blue duiker, pigmy squirrels and primates like blue monkey, olive baboon, and pottas hence making it a very beautiful national park.
Forest walks and bird watching give a good experience, scenic viewing along the Semuliki River and a visit to the beautiful sempaya hot springs with a pool of boiling water. |

MGAHINGA GORILLA NATIONAL PARK
Mgahinga is one of Uganda’s national parks habitant for the endangered mountain gorillas. Located in south western Uganda kisoro district was gazetted in 1991.This Park is bordered by the Republic of Rwanda to the south and Democratic Republic of Congo to the west and part of the great virunga conservation area. The majority of the ethnic groups surrounding this park are Bafumbira and Bakiga.
The partly forested slopes of Mgahinga consists of of the three extinct volcanoes namely Mt .Sabinyo (3669m), Mt.Gahinga (3474m) and Mt.Muhavura (4127m).With afromontane kind of vegetation characterized by cool climate makes it favorable for the mountain gorillas.
Apart from mountain gorillas, there are other animals like bush bucks,gaint forest, duikers and the threatened golden monkeys. Birds of different species include crowned crane, rwenzori turaco, black kite, crowned hornbill.
This park is popularly known for gorilla tracking though these exciting gorillas keep migrating to Rwanda.Therefoere tracking depends on whether the gorillas are around.
Volcano climbing and hiking to the 3 peaks of Sabinyo, Gahinga and Muhavura provides some of the best views in the country. Nature guided walks, bird watching, and golden monkey trekking and viewing of the Garama cave where the Batwa once lived. |

MOUNT ELGON NATIONAL PARK
Mount Elgon is an extinct volcano with alarge surface area (50km by80km).Situated in the Eastern part of Uganda is the fourth highest mountain in east Africa. With Wagagai peak the second highest peak in Uganda. It can best be ascended from the Ugandan side. The majority of the people surrounding this mountain are the Bagisu and Sabiny popularly known for conducting circumcision ceremonies.
Elgon has rich vegetational zones ranging from lush montane forest; mixed bamboo to spectacular moorland hyrachs famous for the rare and endemic plant species which are unique like giant Lobelia elgonensis.The beautiful and capturing wild everlasting flowers mixed with dense shrubs makes Elgon a spectacular attraction. Bird species like sun birds and endangered lammergeiers are recorded. Primates like monkeys inhabit the mountain.
Animals include elephants, bush buck, buffaloes and duiker.
Volcanic mountain climbing and trekking is one of the main activities through any of the three main trailheads of sasa, sipi or piswa.Guided nature walks, bird watching, visit to the wonderful caves and viewing of the majestic sipi falls. |

RWENZORI MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK
Rwenzori mountains are the legendary snow-capped mountains of the moon with an elevation of 5,109m.Mt.Stanley is the highest peak and not volcanic.
In 1991 the Rwenzori Mountains were gazetted as a national park hence the name Rwenzori mountains national park. Uganda holds the largest part of the mountain and the other side borded by Congo. The park headquarters are located at the foothills of the mountains. If offers an enjoyable and exciting adventure which must be well planned because it’s very challenging
There six glaciers with permanent covering of snow on the peaks namely Mt.stanley (5,109m),Mt.Speke (4,890m),Mt.Baker (4,843m),Mt.Emin(4,798m),Mt.Gessi(4,715m) and Mt.Luigi di savoia(4,627m).
The luxuriant unique vegetation of rwenzori boasts of five different vegetation zones including bamboo zone, heather zone and afro alpine, montane forest, grassland and moorland zone. The giant lobelia and groundsels are some of the plants found at the higher altitude.
The lower slopes of the mountain inhabit some mammals like duikers. Birds species like rwenzori turaco, francolins, olive pigeon, mountain buzzards and white necked raven.
The Rwenzoris offers excellent mountaineering and hiking opportunities which gives one a wonderful and memorable experience. The central circuit which takes 7 days exposes the visitors climbing, unique vegetation and bird experience. It is recommended before climbing, one needs to be in good health condition and physically fit. The rwenzori mountaineering services (RMS) provides all the necessary climbing equipment.
The water from the mountains is used for generation of hydro power, domestic use and irrigation. |

KIDEPO VALLEY N. PARK
This savannah remote park is located north-eastern Uganda of Moroto district (karamoja region).
The 1,436sq km park with mountain landscapes which end in rugged horizon, offers some of the wildest and most chartered flights available from Entebbe airport.
Being one of Uganda’s spectacular parks has great diversity of mammal species some found in no other Ugandan national park including car cal, zebra,lion,cheetah,Rothschild giraffe, bat-eared fox, stripped hyena,leopard,elephant,hunting dog,oribi,eland and bush buck. The park boasts of a number of unique recorded bird species (465) like ostrich, little green bee-eater, fan-tailed raven, brown-backed wood pecker, yellow spotted petronia,white-crested turaco,stone partridge, violet-tipped courser, black headed plover,karamojong Apalis, francolins, yellow billed, Jackson horn bills, verreaux’s eagle and Egyptian vulture.
The beautiful national park though rarely visited has a wonderful scenic viewing, game viewing, visit to the hot springs, hiking on Morungole Mountain, bird watching, community walks while learning the ancient customs and beliefs of the karimojong people and dancers. |
