3 Days - Queen Elizabeth National Park Tour

This park was designated as a biosphere reserve. It is characterised by open savannah to rainforest, dense papyrus swamps and brooding crater lakes. The park comprises of Lake Edward and George which connect through the kazinga channel boasting Queen Elizabeth as one of the highest biodiversity ratings with a number of mammal and bird species of any park in Uganda.

The mammal species include both large and smaller mammals, bats and rodents for example lions, buffaloes, spotted hyenas, leopard, topi, gaint forest hog and warthog.
Chimpanzees and primate species including olive baboons, red tailed monkey, colobus and vervet monkey. About 606 bird species recorded like swamp fly-catcher, African fish eagle, African spoonbill, brown parrot, black bishop and broad-tailed warbler.

It’s commonly known for the world famous tree climbing lions in the Ishasha sector, chimpanzee trekking and primates in kyambura gorge. Bird watching and other animals while on the launch trip. Game drives for viewing different wildlife, sight seeing on the crater lakes. Nature and forest walks in the Maramagambo forest is home to forest monkeys.

The Itinerary

Day One

From Kampala drive towards the west have stop over at the equator experience how the water moves clockwise (north), anti-clockwise (south) and for photography. Enjoy the tea plantations, swamps, viewing of the Rwenzori Mountain ranges to Queen Elizabeth national park. After lunch at mweya safari lodge and relaxation, drive to the marvelous crater region for sight seeing, baboon cliff and visit the traditional salt mining at katwe.dinner and overnight at mweya safari lodge or institute of ecology.

Day Two

Wake up early for morning game drive to see elephants, buffaloes, topis, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, bushbucks, warthog, giant forest hog, leopard, lions and many more. Return to the lodge for a late breakfast and relax at the swimming pool. After lunch, prepare for the breathtaking 2 hour boat cruise on the kazinga channel. It has the highest concentration of hippos, very exciting viewing many birds and animals drinking water. Hence a great opportunity for taking photographs. Dinner/overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge or Budget Institute of Ecology.

Day Three

After an early breakfast, drive to kyambura gorge to trekk the habituated chimpanzees and expect to see a variety of primates. After trekking, drive to Kampala lunch enroute arrive in the evening at leisure.
